Deficiency!
Floating excess pulse indicates
A floating pulse is also seen with yin xu
EPI –> Exterior invasion
EITHER Wind-cold or Wind-heat
Floating indicated surface - EPI attacking the wei level or unrooted Yan
3 Excess reasons for a DEEP pulse
- Heat stagnation
- Food stasis
- Cold stagnation
Xu reason for a Deep pulse
Yang xu (cold)
SLOW in a pulse, always indicates…
COLD
Either Yang xu cold or Excess cold
RAPID always indicates…
HEAT
Either yin xu heat, or Excess heat
THREADY alway indicates…
DEFICIENCY!
If you see EXCESS in a case study, the pulse will NEVER be thready :)
Slippery always indicates…
EXCESS!
If you see a “Slippery pulse” in a case study question, you can ELIMINAT
Give 4 pathalogical reasons for a slippery pulse
- Damp
- Phlegm
- Food stasis
- Extreame Heat
AKA: Overflowing
3 excess reasons for a FULL pulse
- Classic Yang-Ming pulse
- Heat consuming body fluids
- Intense heat (pot boiling over)
