homespun
Same as colloquial, but perhaps more put on/affected (ie political “folksiness”)
trite
Simplified, naïve, or lowest common denominator in approach (ex: “all we are saying is give peace a chance” or “America, Love it or leave it”)
connotative
Language rich in sub text or secondary meeting, perhaps for a subtly negative or positive undertone (ex: “insurgent” vs “freedom fighter” vs “terrorist”
