It serves as a way to make sense of a cluster of new cultural phenomena that emerge due to increased technology-driven velocity and don’t fit in earlier cultural narratives.
Immediacy has two relevant connected meanings (Space (close, near) & Time (occuring without lapse in time)) and three defining features:
1. Culture of Instantaneity
2. Not just acceleration in culture but distinct quality to cultural experience / new kind of vibrancy in everyday life
3. Crucial significance of media
