TOGAF Flashcards
What is TOGAF
TOGAF stands for The Open Group Architecture Framework. Developed and
maintained by members of The Open Group. Any organisation wishing to develop an enterprise
architecture can freely use TOGAF
When was the first TOGAF version created
The first version of TOGAF (1995) was based on the Technical Architecture
Framework for Information Management (TAFIM), developed by US DoD.
DoD gave The Open Group explicit permission and encouragement to create
TOGAF by building on what ?
TAFIM
Technical Architecture Framework for Information Management
The most current version is
TOGAF 9.1
What are the two meanings of TOGAF Architecture
- A formal description of a system, or a detailed plan of the system at
component level to guide its implementation. - The structure of components, their inter-relationships, and the principles
and guidelines governing their design and evolution over time.
A tested and repeatable
process for developing architectures is called
TOGAF Architecture Development Method (ADM)
What are the TOGAF ADM Phases
Preliminary Phase Phase A: Architecture Vision Phase B: Business Architecture Phase C: Information Systems Architectures Phase D: Technology Architecture Phase E: Opportunities and Solutions Phase F: Migration Planning Phase G: Implementation Governance Phase H: Architecture Change Management
Preliminary Phase
Describes the preparation and initiation activities required to create an Architecture Capability, including customisation of TOGAF and definition of architecture principles.
Architecture Vision
Describes the initial phase of an architecture
development cycle, including information about the scope of the architecture development initiative, the stakeholders, the architecture vision, and obtaining
approval to proceed with the architecture development
Business Architecture
Describes development of a business
architecture to support the agreed architecture vision.
Information Systems Architectures
Describes development of information systems architectures to support the agreed architecture vision.
Technology Architecture
Describes the development of the
technology architecture to support the agreed architecture vision.
Opportunities and Solutions
Conducts initial implementation planning and identifies delivery vehicles for the architecture defined in the
previous phases.
Migration Planning
Addresses how to move from the baseline to the
target architectures by finalising a detailed ‘implementation and migration’ plan.
Implementation Governance
provides an architectural oversight of
the implementation.
