Q

Cause of CHRONIC n RECURRENT TMJ dislocation?

A

A triad:::
1. Flaccidity or laxity of joint capsule or ligament

  1. Trauma to joint
  2. Flattening or eroding of articular disc or eminence

Q

TMJ Dislocation… Clinical feat??

A
  1. Ant displacement of Condyle…
  2. Ant OPEN BITE..
  3. can be reduced by applying pressure on mandible in backward n downward direction…

Not a feature - deafness…

— prevalence of disc displacement INCREASES with AGE…

Q

Dautery procedure for REPEATED dislocation of TMJ… Describe??

A

Here, the ZYGOMATIC Arch is sectioned n pushed DOWN Infront of Condyle… Thus Condyle now can’t move past it… —————+ displacement stopped!

So Dautery procedure is actually An OBSTRUCTION Creation procedure to the movement ( dislocation ) of the Condyle…

Q

Declarke n Gerrard Procedure for TMJ Dislocation….??

A
## Basics first!!
See... The lateral pterygoid is responsible for the dislocation of TMJ.... IT Strongly pulls the TMJ The ARTICULAR EMINENCE into the INFRATEMPORAL FOSSA.....
So in this procedure an OBLIQUE cut is created ant to the ARTICULAR EMINENCE n the osteotomasized segments r made to overlap each other.... This results in OBSTRUCTING the path of condylar movements...

Q

Modified Le Clerck or modified blocking procedure??

A

Here miniplates n ramus osteotomies r done to prevent dislocation…. (NC so study!!!!!)

Q

EMINECTOMY for TMJ Dislocation?

A

Simply excision of ARTICULAR EMINENCE…. Thus allows the Condylar head to move ANTERIOPOSTERIORLY free of obstruction… So this one is basically an OBSTRUCTION REMOVAL kind of procedure.. in contrast to DAUTERY n Le Clecke…
