15
Q

What is DD+R?

A

16
Q

Where is disc positioned in DD+R?

A

Disc is anteriorly displaced

17
Q

What happens to disc on opening in DD+R?

A

The disc reduces - normally during midrange = hear click

18
Q

What happens to disc on closing in DD+R?

A

Disc displaced anterior

19
Q

What movement pattern expect in DD+R?

A

Ipsilateral deviation w/ opening which corrects - caused disc being infront of condyle initially but then returns to condyle

20
Q

Sign/ symptoms DD+R?

A

TMJ clicking on function and movement

Familiar pain TMJ

21
Q

What is DD+R w/ intermittent locking?

A

Disc still displaced anteriorly

During opening jaw becomes locked as disc no longer relocates onto condyle

22
Q

What see in pt w/ DD+R w/ intermittent locking?

A

Will have jaw manoeuvre - here click as disc returns to condyle

23
Q

What is DD - R?

A

Progression disease
No reduction - disc no longer relocates to condyle instead folds in front of condyle
During opening no reduction of displaced disc

24
Q

What see on condylar head in DD-R?

A

Condylar head abnormal w/ thinning of articular cortex

25
Q

What two types of DD-R?

A

w/ OR w/o limited opening

26
Q

What symptoms see DD-R?

A

Limited mouth opening
Limited contralateral excursion
Familiar pain TMD

27
Q

When see DD-R w/o limited opening?

A

Chronic phase - joint become stretched allowing nearlly full ROM

28
Q

What movement pattern see in DD-R?

A

Ipsilateral deviation which doesn’t correct itself - disc remains infront of condyle

29
Q

What is common to see in DD-R?

A

Limited opening

30
Q

When more likely see DD-R w/o limited opening?

A

When capsule and ligaments have stretched allow ROM

Takes months - years

31
Q

What expect to see on OPT degenerative joint disease?

A

Joint space narrowing
Subchondrial scelorisis - increased opactiy
Subchondiral cyst and erosiosn

32
Q

Sign and symptoms of joint degeneration?

A

Limited ROM/ opening
Crepitus on function
Familia pain

33
Q

Signs/ symptoms of subluxation?

A

TMJ clicking
Lock wide-open position
Excessive mouth opening

34
Q

Difference between subluxation and luxation?

A

Subluxation - pt able to reduce dislocation

Luxation - require interventional reduction

35
Q

What is excessive mouth opening?

A

> 50mm
