Q

describe titration of strong acid

A

initial - concentration of acid = H+ pH = -log(H+)
before equivalence point - do BR/AR leftover H+/total volume then pH = -log(H+)
at equivalence point - pH = 7
after equivalence point - do BR/AR leftover OH-/total volume then pOH = -log(OH-) (H+ + OH- –> H20)

Q

describe titration of weak acid

A

initial - ice table, ka, find H+
before eq point - BR/AR use buffer equation
at half eq point - pH = pKa
at eq point - BR/AR, kb, find OH-, find pOH then pH
after eq point do BR/AR leftover OH-/total volume then pOH = -log(OH-) (H+ + OH- –> H20)
