Tissues Flashcards
What are the 4 types of tissues
Connective tissues, epithelial tissues, muscle tissues, nervous tissues
What are the 4 types of connective tissue
Blood, bones, cartilage, connective tissue proper
All connective tissue come from____?
Stem cells
What are the 3 types of cartilage
Hyaline, fibrocartilage, elastic
What are three types of loose connective tissue?
Areolar, adipose, reticular
What are the 3 dense connective tissues?
Regular, irregular, elastic
All connective tissues have_____
Extracellular fibers, ground substance, stationary and migrating cells
What doesn’t cartilage have?
Nerves or blood flow
Connective tissues are mostly composed of what?
Extracellular matrix
Elastic dense connective tissue
Provides flexible cushioning and is found in the arteries and vertebrae’s
Regular dense connective tissues
Collagen fibers arranged in one direction providing strength and are found in tendons and ligaments
Irregular connective tissue
Collagen fibers arranged in different directions provides strength in multiple directions and are found in capsules around organs
Areolar loose connective tissue
Open space, holds water and salt for surrounding tissues and are found under epithelium and around organs
Adipose loose connective tissue
Comprised of fat cells, have large vacuoles that contain fat/oil that isolates and warms the body and provides nutrients to other cells
Reticular connective tissue
Contains reticular fibers and creates stiff framework that supports other cells
