Epithelial Tissue
Skin. Also covers organs, lines body openings, and forms some ducts and glands. Protects, absorbs, secretes, and excretes
Voluntary or Striated Muscle Tissue
Controlled by conscious effort, like moving arm/leg. Striated refers to the appearance of the muscle.
Involuntary or Smooth Muscle Tissue
Works without conscious efforts. Controlled by the nervous system and keeps automatic systems moving
Cardiac Muscle Tissue
Specialized form of smooth muscle tissue only found in the heart.
Connective Tissue
Fat, Cartilage, bone, blood vessels and scar tissue. A fibrous tissue with many functions, most importantly to connect/support body structures. Can be soft/rubbery or hard/rigid.
Fascia
A connective tissue that forms a membrane around muscles/organs to separate/support them
Nerve Tissue
Extends throughout the body to carry messages to and from the brain.
