Tissue Flashcards
What are the tissue layers from top to bottom?
Skin Surface Skin-Subticular Subcutaneous- Fat Fascia Muscle Organ/Space
What is the healing time for the skin surface?
5-7 days
What is the healing time for the subticular layer?
1-2 weeks
What is the healing time for the subcutaneous/fat layer?
1-2 weeks
What is the healing time for the fascia layer?
4-6 weeks
What is the healing time for the organ/space layer?
Varies
What are the three phases of tissue healing?
Inflammatory Phase
Proliferative Phase
Remodeling Phase
What happens in the Inflammatory phase?
Wound debrided. Dead cells, bacteria, and other pathogens are cleared out.
What happens in the Proliferative phase?
Wound is rebuilt with new granulation tissue.
What happens in the Remodeling phase?
Also called maturation. Collagen is cross-linked and the cells that are no longer needed are removed via cell death.
