Tissue Flashcards
Mencione the types of adipose tissue.
White adipose tissue
Brown adipose tissue
How is microscopically structured the WAT?
It’s composed of monovacuolar adiposyte with flattened nucleus located at the periphery; surrounded with vascularized connective tissue.
The vacuoles are filled with triglycerides. Stains positive to vivetin.
What are the functions of the WAT?
Insulation
Hormone secretion
Structural support
Energy storage
Regulation
Reservoir for lipophilic biomolecules.
Talk me about the energy storage function of the WAT?
On starvation the triglyceride are breakdown from the adipose tissue to ketone bodies as a primary source of energy of the brain.
That prevents degradation of protein and organ failure.
How regulate an anabolic state of metabolism the WAT?
It result in an increase of lipogenesis through hipertrophy; in wich the lipid vacuole expands. And hyperplasia; by the stem cell reserve of the adipocytes.
How regulate a catabolic state of metabolism the WAT?
It’s result in lypolisis.
Mencione the hormone that secrete the WAT?
Lectine
Estrogens
Could you tell me the main characteristics of the leptin?
It’s take effect at the ventromedial hypothalamic nucleus
Induce a feeling of satiety
It decrease in individual with lack of sleep or starvation; increase in states of inflammation.
Mutation in leptin gene produce congenital obesity.
How insulin affects adipose tissue?
Stimulate the glucose uptake
Stimulate the lipogenesis, leading to lipid accumulation
Inhibits lipolysis, preventing the breakdown of standard triglycerides.
How is adipose tissue devoloped?
From the MESODERM GERM LAYER come the MESENCHYAL STEM CELLS, from this come the PREADIPOCYTES (mitotically active) and finally the ADIPOCYTES (ripe, mitotically inactive)
What is the macroscopic structure of WAT?
Divided into lobules by connective tissue septal that also house nerves, vessels and lymphatics.
What’s the microscopic structure of BAT?
Contains multiple vacuoles
Rich in mitochondria
Smaller adipocytes than the WAT
