Tips for Safety Flashcards
What type aircraft represent the highest risk for creating Wake Turbulence?
Heavy, clean and slow
How are you going to takeoff and land behind another aircraft to avoid their wake?
Rotate and climb out ABOVE, and approach and land ABOVE the other aircraft’s flight path. (stay in the bowl)
If your unsure about where the wake turbulence starts/ends, what is a safe margin for dissipation?
3 mins - especially on light wind days
What are the entry requirements for Class C airspace?
You lose 2 way radios. To get back into the Delta, you squawk 7600 and look for what light gun signal(s)?
How are we going to deal with inoperative equipment? (no MEL)
Operation without MEL 91.213 = Plane may continue to be airworthy if inop equipment is:
- not part of VFR-day type certification instruments and equipment
- not indicated as required on the aircraft’s equipment list
- not required by FAR
- not required by AD
INOP instruments or equipment must be removed from airplane with cockpit control placarded and maintenance properly recorded, OR deactivated and placarded INOP.
