TINNITUS

Meziere’s Disease:
Assoc w hearing loss, vertigo, tinnitus and sensation or pressure in 1 or both ears

Otosclerosis:
Onset usually 20-40
Conductive deafness
Tinnitus
Normal Tympanic Membrane - 10% may have 'flamingo tinge' caused by Hyperaemia
Positive FHx

Acoustic Neuroma:
Hearing loss, vertigo, tinnitus
Absent corneal reflex = important sign! = Trigeminal nerve lesion!
Assoc w Neurofibromatosis T2 (Bilateral acoustic neuroma )

Hearing Loss: Causes including excessive loud noise and Presbycusis (age related hearing loss)

Drugs:
Aspirin
Amino glycosides
Loop Diuretics
Quinine

Other Causes:
Impacted ear wax
Chronic suppurative otitis media
