The battle of Stamford Bridge took place. Harold Godwinson defeated Harald Hardraada
September 26 1066
William of Normandy arrived in Pevensey, the south side of England
September 28 1066
William of Normandy arrived in Hastings and prepared for battle
October 2 1066
Harold Godwinson began to march south
October 4 1066
Harold Godwinson arrived in London and rebuilt his army
October 11 1066
Harold Godwinson marched to Hastings with 8000 men
October 13 1066
Harold Godwinson arrived in Hastings and positioned his army on top of Senlac Hill
October 14 1066 (9am)
The Battle of Hastings took place. Rumour spread that William of Normandy died which caused panic to his army. To solve the problem, William of Normandy took off his helmet and proved he was alive
October 14 1066 (early afternoon)
The Battle of Hastings continued again after a short break to collect all the dead bodies
October 14 1066 (3pm)
During the battle, William of Normandy thought of a trick to use. William’s army pretended to retreat to get Harold Godwinson’s army down the hill. William of Normandy used the same trick twice to defeat Harold Godwinson’s army.
October 14 1066 (at sunset)
The battle finally concluded when Harold Godwinson was killed. William won and became the next king of England. He was known as “William the Conquerer” as he conquered England
