a timeline that displays the relationships between events and places which are occurring simultaneously.
Timeline Labels
BC/AD
BCE/CE
Monarchy
King/Queen, power passed through family, power may be shared between monarch and other parts of government.
Oligarchy
a small group of people hold power, group may gain power through force, wealth, status, race, education, etc.
Representative Democracy
Citizens hold power and elect representatives to make decisions. Also called Indirect Democracy
Indirect Democracy
Citizens participate in daily functions, only works for smaller regions, systems
Dictatorship
One leader has complete control over citizens, power by force, people aren’t represented.
Theocracy
A government that focuses on one religion, using one god or supreme being. Must occur alongside other types of gevernment
buddhism
india, buddha was the founder, meditation and enlightenment, don’t believe in 1 god or single creator, try to understand the nature or meaning of life within themselves.
hinduism
originated in india/pakistan, believe in brahman-god (also worship other gods/goddesses), reincarnation, followers believe a person determine their destiny through the ways they live their life. (karma)
islam
originated in Mecca, founded by Muhammad, one god name Allah, the Qur’an is the holy text, worship in a mosque, islam is thought to be a complete way of life
Christianity
Originated in Israel, Jesus Christ was the founder, Bible is the holy text, worship in a church, has many parts, based on the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Ten Commandments
Judaism
Originated in Israel, Founded by Abraham, torah is the holy text, Worship in a synagogue, Jews believe in one god who created the universe.
