Japanese surrender after atomic bomb lands of Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Soviet troops occupy Manchuria (China)
Mao flies to meet Kai-sheik for peace under American auspices
Mao and Chiang reach agreement but fighting between Communists and Nationalists intensifies
1946
Ceasefire (previously agreed) breaks down and civil war begins
1948
Communist forces capture Manchuria
1949
Communists defeat nationalists and establish the People’s Republic of China (PRC)
1950
Start of Korean war
New marriage law gives more legal protection to women
Suppression of counter revolutionaries begins
1951
Three-Antis campaign begins to eradicate corruption among party officials. It’s official targets were corruption, waste and obstructionist bureaucracy
1952 (2)
Five antis campaign is launched to eradicate corruption among businessmen and mainly the bourgeoisie. It’s targets were bribery, tax evasion, theft of state property, cheating on government contracts and economic espionage.
Any political parties other than CPC are banned

First agricultural producers cooperatives are established.

End of Korean war
Launch of first 5 year plan for industry
Purge of Geo Gang and Rao Shushi from the party leadership
1955
‘Higher-stage’ Agricultural Producers’ Cooperatives mark a decisive shift towards collectivisation of agriculture
