Time Scheduling Flashcards
How do you make a Network Diagram
- List Activities on the WBS (work breakdown structure)
2.Establish the relationships between activities
• Does the activity have any predecessors?
• Does the activity have and sucessors?
• What activities can take place concurrently with this one? - Identify Milestones
- Lay out milestones and activities as a network
- Review the logic of the network
• are the activities properly sequenced?
• Are all preceding activities identified?
• Are any activities missing
• Do these activities represent all that needs to be done to accomplish the project objectives?
Estimation table. What is the formula for estimating time?
( P + O + 4M ) / 6
What are the two major methods of time estimating?
Bottom-up (the team hammers out activity time)
Top-Down (Senior management estimates the total project time and allocates it to the project.Schedules of past projects may be used to estimate time)
Gathering Resources: Name a few items that you will want to gather before starting the schedule process?
Gathering Resources
•Calendars of people working on ht project. Include outsourced vendors. Make note of when they are very busy or unavailable
• Vacation time for staff on the project
• Other projects/assignments Team members are involved in that may conflict
• Calendars for materials and resources that will be needed
Float Time (additional time for an activity or path of activities that may be checked without affecting the duration of the project
Scheduling Checklist: Three points to remember?

- Should I create customized versions of the schedule for certain audiences, or for display purposes?
