Time graphs Flashcards
What is speed?
Speed is how fast you are going(nothing to do with direction)
What is velocity?
How fast you are going including direction
In a distance/time graph what does a diagonal line represent?
steady speed
In a distance/time graph, what does the gradient show?
the speed
In a distance/time graph, what do the flat sections represent?
Where it is stationary
In a distance/time graph, the steeper the line means..?
The faster it is going
In a distance/time graph, the downhill sections represent?
Going back to the starting point
In a distance/time graph, curves represent?
accelleration/decelleration
Steepening curve means..?
speeding up
A levelling off curve means..?
slowing down
How do you calculate the speed?(two ways)
Distance/time = gradient
What is acceleration?
how quickly velocity is changing(in speed or direction or both)
How do you calculate acceleration?
change in velocity/ time taken
In a velocity/ time graph, what does the gradient represent?
acceleration
In a velocity/ time graph flat sections represent..?
steady speed
In a velocity/ time graph, the steeper the graph means..?
The greater the acceleration/deceleration
In a velocity/ time graph, uphill sections are?
acceleration
In a velocity/ time graph,downhill sections are?
deceleration
In a velocity/ time graph,what does a curve represent?
changing in acceleration
In a velocity/ time graph, how do you calculate accelleration?(2 ways)
change in velocity/time taken and gradient
In a velocity/ time graph, how do you calculate velocity?
read off the value from that axis
In a velocity/ time graph, how do you calculate distance travelled?
area underneath the graph
