What is varnish used for?
Varnish is used to protect wood being used outside against decay and erosion
What is oil used for?
Protects the wood for external use and improves the look of the wood
What is wood stain used for?
Wood stains improve the look of the grain, it does not protect the wood if used on its own.
What are the kinds of paint used on wood?
Enamel paint - permanent and hard to chip, good for exterior use
Spray paint - fast, reaches areas paint brushes can’t
Acrylic paint - normally requires one coat, easy to use
What is glass paper used for?
The final finish before paint is applied
What is preservative used for?
To protect the wood against decay and erosion
What is pressure treated timber?
Timber that has had preservative forced into by using high pressure
