VTS will provide tidal broadcast advisory when tides are predicted in excess of 11ft. When tide level exceeds 11ft in Seattle vessels should proceed at a safe speed to minimize risk of wake damage. During period of unusually high tides be cautious of free floating logs and submerged deadheads or sinkers.

Tidal currents are subjected to daily inequalities similar to those of the tides. In the winter when south winds prevail there is generally a north surface drift which increases the ebb current and decreases the flood.

Velocity of 2-7kts occur from point Wilson to Pt. No Pt. In the more open waters of the sound south of Pt. No Pt. The velocities are much less.
