It makes it seem like it’s above and better than her

It’s a hermeneutic code and Barthes is the theorist
Who’s the target audience?
Women and it’s shown when it says “it’s got what women want!”
What is the gesture code when she’s holding the box?
She’s hugging it and pouting at it which has connotations of her loving it
Why are the colours primarily red?
It’s a primary colour which has connotations of positivity\love in this instance. Its anchorage is the constant theme of love (also the hearts). This poster can be seen as polysemic.
What does the red white and blue colour scheme suggest?
Patriotism
What does animated strip in bottom right corner suggest?
Van Zoonen theory of men and women represented different in media
Why did media have more copy back then?
Writing was more prominent on posters and other forms of media back then as it was the main form of media and people had better attention span.
What does the writing at the bottom suggest?
Trousers show men exist and women do their chores as they are shown as putting out clothes to dry. Suggests women should work but in domestic roles?

To give audience confidence in the brand and to gave a name to these ideas and ideologies.

Z line are used to create a visual hierarchy and makes it easier to follow which draws in an audience.
