Q

Tell me about yourself

A

Im Louis Manila, and I want to become a software engineer because I enjoy solving problems, and also because it’s versatile and the learning materials are also countless and free on the internet. I like learning by making actual projects rather than just reading documents and solving algorithm problems. I also got awarded as the best programmer in my batch, and been in a hackathon competition, which is a competition where developers develop what they think would be the best solution to a given problem.

Why am I suitable for this job

A

I made sure to study at least 2 hours a day on non busy days, such as during the pandemic. I have been trying to develop as many applications that would actually be useful to me.

Q

Why do I want to work for ti

A

I really like what the company does for the world, how it makes the lives of people easier. How what is accessible to most people now, used to be only accessible for huge factories and companies. Ive also been interested in how technology keeps evolving, like how a computer used to be a size of a room, but now it can fit in a palm of a hand. Additionally, Ive always been the type of person who would wonder how to make tools to make something easier, to avoid grunt work, kind of what the company is doing.

Q

Biggest strength

A

I think my biggest strength would have to be divergent thinking. I like giving myself time to come up with as many solutions as possible, and determining which would be the best for the given problem. For example, on our final year research project, we needed some way for users to input some configurations into a machine, and so we thought first of buttons, keypads, then after some time, I thought of using the device’s already existing web application to configure the settings, which would result to less hardware meaning being less cheaper.

Q

Biggest weakness

A

My biggest weakness would be being less productive after working continuously for around 1 and a half hours. I notice that my proccess of thinking gets blunt and not have much progress after 1 and a half hours. However when I take rests, I tend to fix the problems much quicker than if i didnt take a rest.

Q

How did you hear about the company?

A

I was browsing the internet for companies that relate to my course when I came across Texas Instruments. After researching about the company, it piqued my attention as I have always been interested in Integrated Circuits, how IC chips keep on improving and how accessible it gets over the years.

One time I had to work with someone who would get frustrated easily, and would get others frustrated too, I tried to keep my tone as cool as possible to avoid getting the team much more frustrated. and when things cool down, i try to mention the problem to the person.

Q

Do you prefer working independently or on a team?

A

For tasks that could definitely be handled by one person, I like working independently, because it tends to be faster. However I do like working with other people, learning by seeing problems from different perspectives.

Q

When you’re balancing multiple projects, how do you keep yourself organized?

A

I like writing out my plans, and strictly allocating time for a project, not worrying about a project when its not the allocated time for that project.
