Thyroid analysis Flashcards
what if TSH Norm and T3 and T4 are Norm too what is the diagnosis
-the diagnosis is : Euthyroidism is defined as normal thyroid function that occurs with normal serum levels of TSH and T4.
what if TSH Norm and T3 are Elevated what is the diagnosis
-the diagnosis is : compensatory response to iodine deficiency
which is mean diseases such as endemic goiter, hypothyroidism
-with symptoms : Swelling of thyroid glands in the neck. A visible lump (goiter) on your neck. Weight gain, fatigue and weakness
what if TSH Norm and T3 are decreaced what is the diagnosis
the diagnosis : low T3 syndrome
what if TSH Norm and T4 are elevated what is the diagnosis
the diagnosis is : increase synthesis of TBG in liver ( Thyroid-binding globulin (TBG))
-Increased TBG levels may be due to hypothyroidism, liver disease, and pregnancy. In cases of high TBG, more thyroid hormone will be bound, decreasing free hormone in the blood. This will lead to the increase of TSH, and more thyroid hormones will be produced
Thyroxine-binding globulin (TBG) is one of three major transport proteins, which are primarily responsible for binding to and transporting thyroid hormones to the necessary tissues. The other two serum transport proteins include transthyretin and human serum albumin.04/07/2023
what if TSH Norm and T4 are decreased what is the diagnosis
the diagnosis is :
1- central hypothyrdism : Central hypothyroidism refers to thyroid hormone deficiency due to a disorder of the pituitary, hypothalamus, or hypothalamic-pituitary portal circulation, resulting in diminished thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH), or both
-symptoms :fatigue, depression, cold intolerance, hoarseness, dry skin, constipation, bradycardia and hyporeflexia,
2-insuffeciant synthesis of TGB in liver
what if TSH decreased and T3 and T4 are Norm too what is the diagnosis
-the diagnosis is : subclinical primary hyperthyroidism
-Subclinical hyperthyroidism happens when you have a low or undetectable thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) level with normal thyroid hormone levels. It usually doesn’t cause symptoms, and it may or may not require treatment
what if TSH decreased and T3 and T4 are decreased too what is the diagnosis
-the diagnosis is : manifest of central hypothyrdism
-Central hypothyroidism refers to thyroid hormone deficiency due to a disorder of the pituitary, hypothalamus, or hypothalamic-pituitary portal circulation, resulting in diminished thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH), or both
-symptoms :fatigue, depression, cold intolerance, hoarseness, dry skin, constipation, bradycardia and hyporeflexia
what if TSH decreased and T3 and T4 are elevated too what is the diagnosis
-the diagnosis is :
1-peripheral hyperthyroidism
2-refetoff syndrome : Thyroid hormone resistance syndrome, also known as Refetoff syndrome, is a rare disease associated with decreased reaction of body tissues to thyroid hormones (TH)
-What are the symptoms of thyroid resistance syndrome?
Common signs and symptoms of thyroid hormone resistance syndrome include:
Growth abnormalities.
Issues with brain development and mental function like low IQ, learning disabilities, and hyperactivity.
Tachycardia or rapid heart rate.
Goiter or enlargement of the thyroid gland.
what if TSH elevated and T3 and T4 are Norm too what is the diagnosis
-the diagnosis is :subclinical primary hypothyroidism
- it can sometimes present with mild symptoms of hypothyroidism, which include:
Fatigue.
Unexplained weight gain.
Constipation.
Depression and/or decreased attention span.
Being unable to tolerate cold temperatures.
Dry, coarse skin and hair.
Diastolic hypertension (high blood pressure).
what if TSH elevated and T3 and T4 are decreased too what is the diagnosis
the diagnosis is : manafist of primary hypothyroidism
-Symptoms and Signs of Hypothyroidism. Symptoms and signs of primary hypothyroidism are often subtle and insidious. The most common presenting symptoms are fluid retention and puffiness, especially periorbitally; tiredness; cold intolerance; mental fogginess.
what if TSH elevated and T3 and T4 are elevated too what is the diagnosis
-the diagnosis is : central hyperthyroidism
-Central hyperthyroidism is a rare condition in which thyrotoxicosis results from primary overproduction of TSH by the pituitary gland with subsequent thyroid enlargement and hyperfunction. The two known causes of central hyperthyroidism are TSH-producing pituitary tumors (TSHomas) and the syndrome of PRTH.
