What does the name of Thuc’s war signify?
“Peloponnesian War” – It is named from the POV of Athens, as a fight against Sparta
What is the framework of Thuc’s war?
The 10 years war, followed by the Peace of Nicias through to Sicily, followed by the Persian War
What were the two alliances in Thuc’s war?
The Peloponnesian League and the Delian League
What were the political structures of the two sides of Thuc’s war?
Athens was democratic and fostered democracies, Sparta was oligarchic and fostered oligarchies.
When were the two leagues in Thuc’s war brought together?
The Delian league came together mostly during peacetime, and was founded in funding the navy. The Peloponnesian league came together mostly during the war, and not during the war individual states were free to fight each other.
