Q

How does collateral supply effect the progression of ischemic stroke?

A

If there are collateral arteries supplying the same area that the occluded artery does the rate at which the brain tissue will degrade at will decrease.

Q

How can BP effect the progress of ischemic stroke?

A

If there is a large artery occlusion the body will react by shunting up BP to compensate and therefore perfuse the brain more and decrease the rate at which brain tissue degrades.
