What are threshold competencies, what are they used for (4)
Used for recruitment purposes, are the essential competencies based on organizational values, Flexibility Self control Service orientation Values and ethics
Flexibility- what and why?
Adapting and working effectively regardless of the situation that arises, understanding and appreciating different perspectives, being open to others POV, change outlook if needed to respond to changing needs of individual/ their families.
Self control- what and why?
Keeping emotions under control, restraining negative responses when provoked, expressing anger or frustration in an appropriate way to avoid harming oneself or others. Is a critical requirement given the nature of work, as we regularly be dealing with challenging situations
Service Orientation- what and why?
Identifying and serving those supported and ensuring we meet their needs, the best we possibly can, putting ourself in the individuals mind, so we can understand their needs from their POV. This is important to provide quality service by going the extra mile, taking accountability, and resolving issues so that we provide the best possible service for now and the future.
Values & Ethics- what and why?
Concern for fundamental values ethics, is important to maintain respect and integrity
