What is the clavicular notch on the manubrium for?
sternoclavicular joint
Where does the body of the sternum join the manubrium?

What forms the costal groove?
intercostal VAN

What is the pectoralis major divided into?

What envelopes the pectoralis minor m?
clavipectoral fascia to keep it separated during motion of upper limbs
What is a pleural tap (thoracentesis)?
- aspiration of fluids at midaxillary line or slightly posterior (furthest position from lungs)
- ICS 6 or 7
Why is it bad if the needle is inserted into ICS 8 or 9 during thoracentesis?
- may pierce diaphragm, liver or spleen
- also want to avoid intercostal n and vessels

- inside pericardial sac
- potential space b/t serous and parietal layers
- contains small ant of serous fluid
