Thoracic Cavity - Arteries/Veins Flashcards
Identify the Highlighted structure
Superior Vena Cava(SVC)
What drains into the highlighted structure
Left and Right Brachiocephalic Vein
Azygoes vein
What does the Highlighted structure Enter/drain into
Right Atrium
Identify the Highlighted structure
Inferior Vena Cava
What drains into the highlighted structure?
Common Illiac Veins
Renal Veins
Lumbar Veins
Suprarenal Veins
Gonadal Veins
Hepatic Veins
What does the Highlighted structure Enter/drain into
Right Atrium
Key notes of the course of the highlighted structure to the heart:
Transmits from the pelvis through the abdomen to the heart, through the diaphragm.
Identify the highlighted Structure
Brachiocephalic Vein: Gives rise to a right and left side
What drains into the Highlighted Structure
Axillary Vein, Right, and Left Internal Jugular Veins
What does the Highlighted structure drain into
The Superior Vena Cava
Identify the Highlighted structure
Posterior intercostal Veins
What drains/arises from the Highlighted Structure
Thoracic Wall
What does the Highlighted structure drain into
Azygos Vein(RIght); Hemiazygos Vein or accessory hemiazygoes Vein(Left)
Identify the Highlighted Structure
Azygioes Vein: Noted to be on the right side of the Heart.
*(3D presentation may be skewed further assessment is recommended to thoroughly understand its rise and insertion)
What drains/arises from the Highlighted Structure
Posterior Intercostal veins, Superiormost lumbar Veins, and Veins around the esophagus.
What does the Highlighted structure drain into
Superior Vena Cava.
Identify the Highlighted Structure
Hemiazygos Vein: Noted to be on the Left side of the body and heart and attaches to the Azygos Vein
*(3D presentation may be skewed further assessment is recommended to thoroughly understand its rise and insertion)
What drains/arises from the Highlighted Structure
Posterior Intercostal veins, Superiormost lumbar Veins, and Veins around the esophagus. Left side
What does the Highlighted structure drain into
Azygos Vein
Identify The Highlighted Structure
Accessory Hemiazygos Vein: Noted to be on the Left side of the body and heart and attaches to the Azygos Vein
*(3D presentation may be skewed further assessment is recommended to thoroughly understand its rise and insertion)
What drains into the highlighted structure
Posterior Intercoastal Veins: Left side
Key Note: The Hemiazygos Vein and Accessory Hemiazygos veins are only found on the left side of the body and as noted in the previous learning, they both drain into the same structure: The Azygoes vein. On the right side, the only vein which drains into the Aygoes veins is the Right Posterior intercostal Veins which directly attach to the Azygos Veins. Take note as these structures may be confusing.
What does the Highlighted structure drain into
Azygos Veins
Identify the Highlighted Structure
Right and Left Subclavian Veins
