Thoracic Aorta Flashcards
Normal diameter of Aortic annulus?
2-2.5 cm
Normal diameter of sinus of Valsalva
3-3.5 cm
Normal diameter of STJ
2-2.5 cm
Ascending aorta diameter?
2.5-3.5 (should be 0.2cm or less then sinus dimension)
Timing of aortic measurements?
measure aorta during diastole, measure leading edge to leading edge
Define stanford type A
Aortic dissection starts in ascending aorta
Define stanford type B
dissection that starts in descending thoracic aorta
Define Debakey type 1
dissection that starts in ascending and extends through the arch into the descending
Define DeBakey type 2
aortic dissection that starts in ascending and is limited to ascending only
Define DeBakey type 3
Starts in descending thoracic aorta, 3a stops before renals and 3b extends below the renals
Crawford type 1 aneurysm
subclavian to above renals
Crawford type 2 aneurysm
subclavian to below renals
Crawford type 3 aneurysm
6th intercostal to below renal arteries
Crawford type 4 aneurysm
sub-diaphragmatic to iliac bifurcation
Crawford type 5 aneurysm
6th intercostal to above renals
