Q

What is the theory of Market Gluts?

A

Developed in “ Principals of Political Economy” . Malthus theorized about the potential insufficiency of effective demand.
He assumed that workers received a subsistence wage.

17
Q

If workers cant buy the extra output , who would

A

Capitalist would have to spend their profits to buy surplus, and this would not be in the nature to do so. So his idea was landlords.

18
Q

Explain the insufficiency of effective demand.

A

Employers hire these workers beacause they a value greater than which they receive as wages= employer makes a profit. Workers can not buy the total p=output. THe profit can not be returned to the workers in the form of higher wages.Capitalist will buy some of it in the form of capital goods.
