LOCATION: slow moving rivers, lakes and swamps across south america
DIET: eats fish, fave is catfish and parachins. sometimes eats small snakes and caimans
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS: powerful tail and webbed feet. dense fur(often poached) nostrils ans ears have valves. All have unique throat patches to identify each juan.
BEHAVIOUR:groups of 5-8, they display their throat patches, live in burrows, territory marked by scent from anal glands, 9 different calls

DIET: carnivorious, high metabolisms, eat molluscs, crustaceans and insect larvae
PHYSICAL: oval disc, spine on tail delivers sting
BEHAVIOUR: bottom dwellers, prefer lower light levels. Bury themselves when threatened, like calm waters.
RISKS:hunted for pets, adults caught for food

DIET:herbivores, eat random veg, fave is mangrove leaves and water hyacinth
PHYSICAL: muscular, appearance is due to coiling intestines, has toenails, gets cold so migrates
BEHAVIOUR: migrates when water gets below 20C,goes to natural and artificial warm water areas
RISKS: watercraft collisions, “vulnerable”

Xingu Platinum Pleco

LOCATION: some place in Brazil
DIET: mostly algae, occasionally carrion(rotting flesh)
PHYSICAL: Loricariidae, sucker like mouth, spines on fins
BEHAVIOUR: solitary, uses succ tool to anchor against river flow
Red Bellied Piranha

WEIGHT:up to 3.5kg
LOCATION: Amazon river basin, rivers and lakes
DIET:insects, fish, plants. Ocasionally swarm larger animals (rare)
PHYSICAL:juveniles silver, adults red bellied, the ones in aff are older so red belly faded
BEHAVIOUR:NOT BLOODTHIRSTY. Prefers to eat dead or weakened animals, only
ravenous when landlocked in a drying pool.
FACTS!!!: banned in Singapore, only males r kept in AFF to prevent breeding
Electric Eel

LOCATION:Amazon, muddy rigers, pools and swamps
DIET:adults eat fish and small mammals
PHYSICAL: produces 600 volt shock using 6000 cells called electrocytes, base charge of 10 volts for navigating. Can stun a horse.
BEHAVIOUR:Nocturnal hunter, shocks itself but comes accustomed to it
