  5. Avoid grapefruit anD st.John’s wort when taking this medication
  6. Take the medication with food or without
  7. Serious side-effects include bradycardia, hypotension, hypothyrodism or thyrotxicosis due to it binding to the thyroid receptor as it contains ionic content.

Amitriptyline - full summary

A

This is a tricyclic antidepressant indicated for the treatment of depressive illness., psychotic episodes, and depression associated anxiety also used in the treatment of migraines.
2. Amitriptyline works by inhibiting the membrane pump that is responsible forthe re-uptake of neurotransmitters like norepinephrine and serotonin. Therefore increases there concentrations in the brain.
3. Avoid alcohol whilst on this medication
4. It can take up to two weeks for the patient to feel better and 4-6 weeks for the maximum effect to be felt.
5. Best to take amitriptyline before going to bed or in the evening as it can cause sleepiness.
6. Ca n take with or without food. Swallow tablets with a fladd of water.

  1. If you take Amitriptyline OD and miss a dose, skip that dose and resume at usual tiem for the next day. If you take it three times or 2 times a day. Then take the missed dose as soon as you remember, however skip that specific missed tablet if you remember close to the time you are do the other normal scheduled tablets,

8.NEVER take TWO doses at the same time.

you have weakness on one side of your body
you have trouble speaking or thinking
you lose your balance or have blurred eyesight

  1. This is a prodrug of mercaptopurine
  2. Azathioprine is used in order as an immunosuppresant in RA or SOD therapy or transplant.
  3. This drugs works by causing for T-cell apoptosis. Also works by inhibiting the synthesis of purines which means t-cells and B-cells are inhibited.
  4. Toxicity includes

  2. Drug family is the ‘‘selective serotonin-reuptake inhibitors’‘(SSRIs).
  3. Citalopram works by enhancing the levels of serotonin in the brain by inhibiting serotonin reuptake.
