Q
What is a K bath for dialysis ?
A
K bath refers to the concentration of potassium in the dialysate. Goes from 4.0K to 1.0K (most to least K). Patients get different baths depending on their serum K levels, usually stable bath over time. Ideally K should be >5 before dialysis

Q
What is ISO UF?
A
Isolated ultrafiltration. Basically extra dialysis with the dialysis fluid routed away —> taking fluid off but putting nothing back in
Used for:
- chronic over-hydration
- rectifying fluid overload in patients w pulmonary oedema / HF that fails to respond to diuretics
- quick fluid removal in gross overload but electrolytes not warranting dialysis
