Things I Didn't Remember Flashcards
How many carbons is each carbon atom in fullerene bonded to?
3
What types of bonding exist in fullerene?
Covalent and London dispersion
With regards to topic 5, formation reactions show the enthalpy change when one mole of a substance is produced from its elements in their standard states. Should you alter the coefficient or subscript of diatomic reactants in this case?
Coefficients; for example 0.5 O2
Outline the conditions of a chemical reaction in equilibrium
The forward and reverse reactions occur at the same rate and the concentration of the products and reactants are constant
To which side does the equilibrium constant shift when pressure increases and why?
To the side with fewer GAS molecules or moles of GAS because it wants to minimize the collisions of particles
What effect does a catalyst have on the position of equilibrium and why?
It doesn’t affect it because it increases the rate of both forward and reverse reactions
Define electronegativity
the ability of an atom to attract a bonded pair of electrons
Define average bond enthalpy
the energy required to break one mole of a covalent bond in a gaseous melocule
