Thigh Flashcards
Pectineus origin?
superior ramus of pubis
Pectineus distal?
pectineal line of femur
Pectineus innervation?
Femoral nerve and may receive a branch from the obturator nerve
Pectineus action?
Adducts and flexes thigh, assists with medial rotation of thigh
Psoas major origin?
T12-L5 vertebrae
Psoas major distal?
lesser trochanter of femur
Psoas major innervation?
Anterior rami of lumbar nerves
Psoas major action?
to flex the thigh at the hip joint and helps stabilize the joint
Iliacus origin?
iliac crest and fossa, ala of sacrum
Illiacus distal?
tendon of psoas major, lesser trochanter
Illiacus innervation?
Femoral nerve
Illiacus action?
flex the thigh at the hip joint and helps stabilize the joint
sartorius origin?
anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS)
sartorius distal?
superior part of medial surface of tibia
sartorius innervation/action?
Femoral nerve; Flexes, abducts and laterally rotates thigh at hip joint; flexes leg at knee joint (medially rotating leg when the knee is flexed)
Quadriceps femoris origin?
Rectus femoris: Anterior inferior iliac spine
Vastus lateralis: greater trochanter and lateral lip of linea aspera of femur
Vastus intermedius: anterior and lateral surfaces of the shaft of the femur
Vastus medialis: intertrochanteric line and medial lip of linea aspera of femur
Quadriceps femoris distal?
via common tendon (quadriceps tendon) to patella
Quadriceps femoris innervation?
Femoral nerve
Quadriceps femoris action?
Extend leg at knee joint; rectus femoris also steadies hip joint and helps iliopsoas flex the thigh
adductor longus origin?
pubis inferior to pubic crest
