Q

how does body regulate rise in body temperature

A
  1. thermoreceptors in skin and hypothalamus are stimulated by increase in body temperature
  2. arterioles in skin dilate to allow more blood to flow through capillaries for more heat to be lost
  3. sweat glands produce more sweat which increases heat loss from body when water from sweat evaporates
  4. metabolic rate decreases to reduce amount of heat released within the body
  5. body temperature decreases

Q

how does body regulate fall in body temperature

A
  1. thermoreceptors in skin and hypothalamus are stimulated by fall in body temperature
  2. arterioles in skin constrict to allow less blood to flow through capillaries for less heat to be lost
  3. sweat glands produce less sweat so less heat is lost when water in sweat evaporates from skin
  4. metabolic rate increases to increase heat released within body
  5. body temperature increases
