thermodynamics basic Flashcards
What’s the experimental group?
It’s the part of the experiment where the variables are being changed.
What is the control group?
A part of an experiment that doesn’t change. Use to compare your results to.
What is an Independent Variable
The variable that is controlled (not the control). The variable you choose to change.
What is a Control?
The one you use to compare the changes made by the experimental group.
What is Conduction?
The movement of heat through an object.
What’s Temperature?
It’s the average kinetic energy.
Does cold technically exist?
Cold does not exist but lack of heat does.
What is radiation?
Its heat that transfers through waves.
I want to know: How will be going to bed later affect how tired I am in the morning. What is the control in this experiment?
Me going to bed at my regular time and seeing how tired I am in the morning.
I want to know: How will be going to bed later affect how tired I am in the morning. What is the independent variable?
The time I choose to go to bed.
I want to know: How will be going to bed later affect how tired I am in the morning. What is the dependent variable?
How tired I am in the morning.
I want to know: How will be going to bed later affect how tired I am in the morning. What are some constants in this experiment?
My bed, me, what time I get up in the morning.
What is Convection?
The transfer of heat when it moves up due to it being less dense than the air around.
What is Conduction?
The transfer of heat through touch.
What is an Insulator?
Maintains state or prevents change of kinetic energy.
