Thermal Physics Flashcards
Thermal equilibrium
Occurs when temperature differences between two objects , hotter will lower and colder will hotter , UNTIL REACH SAMS EQUILIBRIUM TEMPERATURE
Internal energy
Electrostatic and kinetic
Higher electrostatic is gases and lowest is solids
Thus increasing temp changing from solid to liquid is increasing potential and kinetic
Shc
The amount of energy required to change 1 g temp of substance by 1 degree
Latent heat?
This is the flat lines on graph energy needed to convert from one state to another
Fusion solid to liquid
Vaporisation liquid t9 solid
This questions about ice
First the ice needs energy ti make it water, it takes this from the higher temp
So if it gains energy, water loses energy so it decreases in temp, find new temp
Now you have to waters of different temp. Energy will move from high temp to low temp
Thus they will both become same temp, higher becoming lower and lower becoming higher
The energy it needs to give = to energy it gains , make equations and solve
