Thermal Energy Flashcards
What is a Conductor?
A material that transfers heat energy quickly or easily.
What is an Insulator?
Something that prevents or slows down heat energy transfer.
What is Thermal Energy?
Thermal Energy is the total kinetic (motion) energy of the tiny particles that make up matter. the faster the particles move, the warmer the matter becomes.
What is Heat?
Energy that in transferred from one body to another which is temperature difference.
What is Radiation?
The transfer of thermal energy by invisible waves, through
air or even empty space.
What is Convection?
Heat transfer caused by the rising and falling of hotter
and cooler liquids or gases.
What is Conduction?
The transfer of thermal energy when two objects of
different temperatures touch.
What is a Thermal Equilibrium
When two objects in contact with each other
reach the same temperature.
What is the Law of Conservation of Energy
