Thermal Energy Flashcards
What is a conductor?
A material that transfer heat energy quickly or easily.
What is an insulator?
Something that prevents or slows down heat energy transfer.
What is thermal energy?
It’s a kinetic energy that is made up with tiny particles. When is warmer it moves faster and when is colder it moves slower.
What is heat?
Heat is a thermal energy that is being transferred from one place to another.
What is Conduction?
When two things touch and are different temperatures.
What is convection?
Convection is when heat rises like a hot air balloon or a steam from hot chocolate.
What is Radiation?
The transfer of thermal energy by invisible waves, through air or even empty space.
What is thermal equilibrium?
When two objects in contact with each other reach the same temperature.
