Therapeutic mAbs Flashcards
Discuss examples of mAbs for inflammatory diseases
RA - TNF a - Infliximab with methotrexate, IL-6 - Sarilumab
What was the first mAb for human use?
muromonab - acute organ rejection - targets CD3 on T cells for degradation via cytolysis or opsinization
What is a drug we can use for MS?
Ocrelizumab (humanised) - targets CD20 B cells which are involved in production of autoantibodies, pro inflammatory T cells and pro inflammatory cytokines. In MS, autoantibodies cross the BBB and attack the myelin sheath causing damage to the CNS. Ocrelizumab downregulates these autoantibodies via ADCC, apoptosis and cytotoxicity - recently approved by NICE for MS NHS treatment
What are the three classes of mAb for oncology?
Naked mAb
Conjugated
Bispecific
