Theory-Lesson 10(Integrated Controls) Flashcards
4 attributes of vehicle dynamics
1)Agility:fun to drive car
2)Stability: driver’s confidence, pretictable car
3)Precision: steering, handling, braking
4)Comfort: controlling roll pitch, minimizing harshness and vibrations
Integrated Controls
To introduce integrated controls to cars, we should account that interactions and performance conflicts arise within the system. For example, the use of single-wheel braking to reduce oversteer will certainly conflict with the requirement for traction under forward acceleration.
Design tools for integrated vehicle dynamics:
1)Design of computer experimebts.
2)Use of surrogate models
3)Sensitivity analysis
4)Mathematical programming
5)Genetic algorithms
6)Trade-off analysis(Pareto set)
Principle of synerginsm
Fundamental for the design of integrated controls. If we consider the variation of the i-th OF of a vehicle fitetd with a number of active controls with respect to a reference vehicle

The main idea is that when optimizing the tire and the suspension, I cannot get any better results than optimizinh the tire and the suspension seperately.
