UN2880
ec numbers
7 digit numbers used in europe to identify hazardous chemicals

all cleaning chemical and equipment should be correcty stored
ensure cleaning chemicals do not have bad effect on water quality
hygene
hygene and cleanliness have a direct effect on pool attendance
attention to water bank, scumline dressing rooms and viewing areas
cleanig should take place without use of chemicals where possible
temp
lane swimming - 27-28
multi pupose- 28-29
30- leisure
the higher the water temp the faster the live growth - more chemicals required
air temp
high enough to ensure bather comfort no draughts
low enough to prevent excess evap
RULE; air should be kept within 2 degrees of water temp
ventilation
removes by products of chemicals used in pool and cleanig
controls humidity
pollution
surface pollution -top 6 inches - 75 percent of all bacteria pollution
dissolved pollution - urine, perspiration
suspended pollution - chemical particles prodced by pool chemicals
insolublbes - dirt, fluff
disinfection
destroying micro organisms so they no longer pose a threat to health
bromine- spas
cyanuric acid- outdoor pools
chlorine - two forms - ratio of 1 part combined chlorine to three parts total chlorine should be aimed for
idel- free chlorine between 1.5-2 mg
types of chlrine
Free chlorine involves the amount of chlorine that’s able to sanitize contaminants, while combined chlorine refers to chlorine that has combined directly with the contaminants. Total chlorine is basically the sum of free chlorine and combined chlorine.
efficient ph of chlrine
6.5
why it is necessary to control ph
effects the efficiency of chlorine
bather comfort
normal ph around 5 poor causes cloudiness- means ph too high and scale
ideal ph for pool
7.2-7.6
priority of treatment
breathing, bleeding , breaks, burns
choking
if they can talk or cough its partial blockage
encourage to keep coughing until blockage clears
when thet cannot talk
5 slaps to back
5 abdominal thrusts
repeat until blockage clears
