What do interactionists argue?
That all sociological theories suffer from two weaknesses
What weaknesses do all sociological theories suffer from according to interactionists?
-Tend to assume that the traditional nuclear family is the dominant family type - ignores the increased plurality and diversity of contemporary families.
-They are structural theories - they assume that all families are shaped by society and their members are passive puppets manipulated by society to perform certain functions.
What is difference feminists perspective?
They take a wider view of relationships than just the traditional family based on blood and marriage
What do difference feminists focus on?
They focus on the meaning that relationships have for individuals
What do difference feminists draw attention to?
A range of other personal and intimate relationships that are important to people, even though they may not be conventionally be defined as family
