What was John Dalton’s theory?

He was an English chemist and he first separated the compounds into elements and then he measured all of them.Then he compared the weight of hydrogen with the other elements.He then found out that oxygen was 7 times larger than hydrogen.He then stated that an atom of an element can only be conjoined with another atom of an element as a ratio of 1:1.He thought the atomic weight of oxygen was 7 and hydrogen was 1.Based on that he set them out on a table.His theory was later declared incorrect
