How does man exist?
Man is CREATED, not evolved
What is man?
He is not an animal, he is special creation
What is man made in and animals not?
The IMAGE OF GOD
Why is murder wrong?
We are God’s representatives; it’s striking against the image of GOD
Physical parts of man
2 part: body and spirit
3 part: body, soul, and spirit
Immaterial life force, being
Soul
Immaterial part of man
Spirit
Center of life
Heart
Human mechanism that reacts to a moral code
Conscience
The ability to perceive and understand which allows us to feel, judge, or determine
Mind
Physical part of man but also the desire to do our own thing and oppose God
Flesh
A desire to do what we want for whatever reason
Will
What was Adam like?
Perfect, big, without sin
What was his job?
Dominion; to rule over the earth
What was the temptation?
To OBEY GOD or NOT
Did Adam choose Eve over God?
YES
What happened to the serpent?
He was condemned to the earth; stuck, lord of the dead
What happened to women?
would have pain in childbirth and desire to rule over men
What happened to men?
would die, kicked out of garden, brutally rule women, work hard
What is life?
- it is a story
- like a movie we have to come to 40 minutes late
- our story reflects the real story
Act One - Eternal love
John 1 starts with “in the beginning” and describes the intimacy of the Trinity
God is relational (father son holy spirit)
Act Two - Entrance of Evil
We need to know what happened (bible) to understand why things happen
satan rebelled and deceives; “can you trust the image of God?”
People don’t take evil seriously - they act like there is no enemy and blame God
Act Three - Battle for the Heart
God created mankind in His own image
We have the ability to reason… and the freedom to reject him
Evil was lurking in garden; we fell
Jesus died for us on the cross
Act Four - Kingdom Restored
satan took away the joy of a happily ever after for those who don’t believe
- those who have faith will be saved
The kingdom restored; Jesus said, “I will make all things new
