- The big bang
- The Big Bang theory suggests that there was a massive expansion of space which condensed into matter and the matter became galaxies and then kept expanding from there
what is the christian view on how the universe was created
Christians believe that God is the creator and designer of the universe and that he created everything within it. Most Christians believe in the story of genesis but there are different interpretations of the story

Liberalists- Liberalists take the story of genesis metaphorically, they don’t believe that everything within the story is factual but instead believe the story is symbolic and represents God creating the universe but possibly may also look at science
Literalist-Literalist take the story of genesis to be factual and believe that the people who wrote the story were inspired straight from God and so therefore believe the story is 100% true.
what is the buddhist view on how the universe was created
Some buddhists accept the Big Bang theory but most see the universe being cyclical and so therefore they believe there is no beginning or end to the universe as they believe that everything is constantly changing.

Christians value the world as they see the it as a gift from God and they believe they should respect God’s creation

Buddhists value the earth and believe that is even though the world belongs to nobody, they should make sure that everyone actively worlds to respect it

Other Christians believe that God gave humans dominion and so therefore they believe they can do whatever they want to the environment, however most chose to protect it

Buddhists believe that they should treat the environment with respect as if they don’t and choose to misuse the environment then they will cause suffering for themselves and others.
The first moral precept also states to avoid harming living beings and this can relate to the animals within the environment-hence why many are vegetarian
why should natural reources not be used
Some natural resources are non-renewable and so therefore they do not have an infinite supply and so will run out quicker and other alternative options will need to be found.
Some natural resources also release more carbon emissions out and greenhouse gases into the universe therefore causing less harm

christians want to reduce pollution and they believe that pollution is a consequence of humans not looking after the world in which God created for us properly. They also believe that adding to the problem of pollution is not loving towards other -‘love thy neighbour’

Buddhists want to reduce pollution and they believe that pollution causes harm to all living creatures so therefore pollutions goes against the first moral precept ‘do not harm’

Christians believe that animals were created by god for humans to use and take care of . However, many believe that they aren’t as important as humans as they weren’t created in the image of god but they should stile treated kindly

buddhists believe that animals should be treated with kindness and compassion just like they should treat humans. They also believe in Karma and so any bad treatment towards animals will causes personal suffering

most buddhist are completely against animal testing because they believe that animals should not be harmed but some think it is okay if it saves humans but most don’t think this way.

Christians believe that if testing is necessary and the animals welfare is considered then it is acceptable as it can help to save a human

there is no rule in Christianity which states you cannot eat meat as most believe God gave us animals to use. However, some are vegetarian as they believe eating God’s creation would not please God

Most buddhists are either vegetarian or vegan because they believe you should not harm animals and using them for food is harming them and not showing compassion

The theory of evolution is the scientific theory which explains how humans got to be on earth, it states how humans have got to earth by evolving from other previous creatures many of which became existent due to the idea of ‘survival of the fittest’

Christians believe that God created all life with humans life being created last. They believe that Adam was the first man and and Eve was the first woman.

Buddhists believe that humans just came into existence as the buddha taught that anything can come into existence when the nessecary conditions are there.

abortion is the deliberate removal of a foetus from the womb in order to end a pregnancy

pro-choice is a group in link with the topic of abortion which believes that is should be the woman choice as to weather she has an abortion or not
what are the arguments for aboriton
- it’s the mothers body, she has to carry it and give birth and so it’s her choice as to weather she wants to do to
- some people believe that life doesn’t start until birth and so therefore there is no killing involved in an abortion
- if it is known that the child will be born with some disabilities than surely it is crueler to let the child be born and have to live in pain then abort it
what are the arguments against abortion
- instead of killing the baby if the woman does not want it, she could give it up for adoption so the child can live in a family who will look after them
- some believe that life being at conception and so therefore abortion is murder.
- it is possible for a disabled child to live a happy life and so therefore the killing of a disabled baby is unnessasacry

pro-life is a group in link with the topic of abortion which believes that abortion is wrong and that the foetus is valuable life and should not be killed

most christians believe that abortion is only acceptable if it is putting the mothers life in danger other or it is a result of rape, other wise they believe in the sanctity of life, which is a belief which states that only god has the power to take away or give life and so therefore hey believe that abortion is wrong

Most buddhists believe that abortion is wrong as it is seen as a form of killing which goes against the first moral precept ‘do not harm. However like Christianity if it is going to harm to the mother or the child will have apart quality of life than abortion is acceptable
what is euthanasia
Euthanasia is the painless killing of a patient who is suffering an incurable disease or painful illness
what is voluntary euthanasia
voluntary euthanasia is when an ill person asks for their life to be ended because they don’t want to live anymore
what is involuntary euthanasia
Involuntary euthanasia is when person is capable of stating weather they want to die or not but is not given the opportunity to do so.
what is non-voluntary euthanasia
non-voluntary euthanisa is when an ill person is too ill to ask to die but the doctor ends their life anyway as they think it is at their best interest

Christians beliefs on euthanasia
christians see euthanasia as a form of murder. They believe in the sanctity of life and so therefore believe that only god has the right to take life away.
But some accept euthanisa if it is the most loving thing to do

most buddhist don’t agree with euthanasia as it goes against the the moral precept of ‘do not harm’ However, if it is the most compassionate thing to do then some buddhist are accepting of it

Christians believe that when they die they will either go to heaven or hell. They also believe that after you die there is a judgement day in which god bases his decisions off one’s actions and will decided weather you go to heaven or hell.

buddhists believe that after you die you are reborn and until you reach enlightenment you will keep being reborn.
