Prejudice
Unfair or preconceived opinion on a person or group of people
Discrimination
Treating someone differently because of what you believe true about them
Equality
Fair treatment and rights given to all people
Gender equality
Access to rights or opportunities is unaffected by gender
Ordination
The ceremony in which a man becomes so,some with a position of religious authority
Female ordination
The process of admitting women as priests in the church
In persona Christi
In the person of Jesus-meaning the priest is acting in the role of Jesus
Nuclear family
1 man and 1woman married and the children they have together, living together
Extended family
Nuclear family and other relatives that live with them eg grandparents
Blended family
1 man and 1 woman, the children they have together and/or their children from a previous relationship living together
Single parent family
A family with only one live in parent
Procreation
The process of reproduction-producing an offspring
Catechesis
Religious instruction or teaching
Marriage
The legal joining of two people
Sacrament
A religious ceremony where a person receives gods blessing and becomes closer to god
Sanctity of marriage
Belief that marriage vows are sacred promises made to god, not just to the other person. Catholic belief
Monogamy
Married to one person at a time
Polygamy
Married to multiple people at the same time
Divorce
The legal ending of a marriage by a court
Remarriage
When someone marries again after divorce
Annulment
A legal declaration that the marriage was never valid to begin with, and therefore the marriage never existed
Cohabitation
Two people leaving together in an emotionally and or sexual relationship without marriage
Pre-marital sex
Sexual intercourse before marriage
Extra marital sex
A sexual relationship between two people outside of marriage (and affair)
Adultery
Act of engaging in physical sexual activity with someone other than your spouse while married
Celibacy
The commitment not to have sex,perhaps until marriage or maybe forver
Conception
The moment of fertilisation, becoming pregnant
Contraception
Only method to prevent conception
Hormonal contraception
Contraception which uses hormones to prevent pregnancy eg the pill
