Orthodox Jews believe that sex should only happen in a marriage between a man and a woman. Reform and Liberal Jews think that a person’s sex life is a thing of personal choice. They are more open to sexual relationships outside of marriage but beieve that commitment and love are very important.

Traditional Catholics argue that sex without the possibility of procreation is not what God wants for us. Some Catholic churches even ban the use of contraception.

What is the Jewish perspective on contraception?

A

Many Orthodox Jews don’t accept contraception unless a couple can’t afford to have the child or if the mother or child is at risk. The pill and other hormonal methods are allowed but condoms, masturbating and wasting sperm are forbidden.

A

Some Muslims believe conception is the will of Allah, so people shouldn’t avoid it. However, some Muslims think contraception is allowed in circumstances where having children would make a couple’s lives difficult or harm to the mother. Irreversible contraceptions are not allowed.
