What is the history of homosexuality (1885, 1967, 2004, 2014)?
- 1885 - homosexual act are made illegal - only for men
- 1967 - homosexual acts are legal over the age of 21, except for armed forces
- 2004 - civil partnerships allowed by law
- 2014 - same sex marriage is allowed by law
What are issues faced by homosexual people worldwide?
Persecution, hate crimes, homelessness, being excluded
What do most Christians believe about relationships between man and women?

What do Fundamentalist Christians believe about homosexuality?
Fundamentalist Christians believe that homosexuality is wrong, both feelings and actions. It should be ‘cured’.
What do Conservative Christians believe about homosexuality?
Conservative Christians believe that homosexual actions are wrong so homosexuals should remain celibate
What do Liberal Christians believe about homosexuality?
Liberal Christians believe that homosexuality is acceptable everyone has the right to love and have sex in appropriate circumstances.
What is a civil partnership?
A civil (nonreligious) ceremony which gives them the same legal rights as married couples (e.g. inheritance)
What is the position of most Christian denominations about homosexuals?
They should not have sex. This is because they believe that the purpose of sex is procreation.
What do Catholic teachings say about sexual relationships?
That they should only take place in a marriage, between a man and a woman who are comitted to each other.
What are Islamic perspectives on sex?
Traditional Muslims beleive sex should take place only during marriage, between a man and a woman.
What are Jewish perspectives on sex?
Orthodox Jews believe that sex should only happen in a marriage between a man and a woman. Reform and Liberal Jews think that a person’s sex life is a thing of personal choice. They are more open to sexual relationships outside of marriage but beieve that commitment and love are very important.
What are Catholic views on contraception?
Traditional Catholics argue that sex without the possibility of procreation is not what God wants for us. Some Catholic churches even ban the use of contraception.
What is the traditional Jewish view on sex?
That it is only permitted during marriage. Orthodox Jews won’t even touch their potential wives/husbands until they are married. Adultery is viewed as a serious sin.
What are Islamic perspectives on sexual relationships?
That sex can only take place in marriage as part of a loving and committed relationship.
What are Islamic attitudes on adultery?
Adultery is a serious sin in Islam. To avoid sexual activity men and women should not be alone together. In some Muslim countries, adultery can result in a death penalty.

Sex is a way that two people can show love and give each other pleasure. Because of this, sex should not always be limited to marriage and procreation.
