Theft
Section 1 Theft Act 1968
A person is guilty of theft if he dishonestly appropriates property belonging to another with the intention of permanently depriving the other of it
Actus Reus
The physical act
3 Elements of theft
- Property is existence which belonged to a person
- Person no longer has possession or control
- The accused may be reasonably suspected of stealing it
Robbery
Section 8 Theft Act
A person is guilty of robbery if s/he steals and immediately before doing so or at the time of doing so uses force in any persons, or puts or seeks to put any person in fear of being then and there subjected to force
Burglary Section 9 (1)(a) Theft Act
A person is guilty of burglary if he enters any building or part of a building as a trespasser with intent to
Steal anything from the building or part of the building, or
Inflict grievous bodily harm on any person therein, or do unlawful damage to the building or part of the building
Burglary Section 9 (1)(b) Theft Act
Having entered any building or part of a building as a trespasser he steals or attempts to steal anything from the building or part of the building, or inflicts or attempts to inflict on any person therein grievous bodily harm
